Guyala & Matt are exciting new signings to Chic Talent Brisbane.
Guyala Bayles is a model and poet, and Matt Robert is a model and painter. Both artists are passionate activists hailing originally from the Murri Community in Queensland.
Guyala was born in Brisbane, and grew-up in Redfern before eventually returning to Queensland at the age of 14. With no father figure growing-up she took inspiration and guidance from her grandfather, respected Australian radio presenter and land rights activist, Tiga Bayles. Tiga was known as the voice of Indigenous Australia.
Activism has been a cornerstone of her family for generations. Guyala’s Grandmother, Maureen Watson was an avid supporter of Aboriginal rights in Australia as well as a renowned actor, vocalist, writer, musician, and storyteller.
A successful model, Guyala, who at only 20 years of age, has already amassed quite an established client list, having shot for Marvell Lane, Sunsoaked, Riders, Cotton On, The Iconic and Maybelline.
Guyala is very close to her Mother Yarraka, twin sister Ylan and brother Quaden who is the face of Stand Tall 4 Dwarfism.
Matt specialises in contemporary Aboriginal painting. Inspiration for his artwork comes from personal experiences and the Australian countryside. Matt uses a wide range of colours incorporating traditional and contemporary indigenous painting styles and storytelling.
An AFL player with 20 years’ experience, Matt plays at the state level for QAFL. He is also a keen spear fisherman and environmentalist.
Together, GuyaLa and Matt make a formidable couple. With highly creative minds, a love of the outdoors and a deep understanding of their cultural background, they are perfectly intertwined in their pursuits.
